Getting to Know Budapest (Monday 8th September)

Today we got to know Hungary's historic & beautiful capital city better.
During the morning we toured the city in the company of our excellent local guide, Andrea Makkay.
Amongst the sites we saw were Heroes' Square...

...City Park, Szenchenyi Baths, Andrassy Utca, the Fisherman's Bastion...

...the magnificent Parliament Building...

...the Matthias Church...

...& the spectacular view over the Danube from atop Gellert Hill.

Our final visit was to the Central Market.  Like many of the sights we saw the market was built to celebrate Hungry's Millennium celebrations in 1896.  Today it continues to operate as a thriving shopping & dining destination.

This afternoon & evening were totally free for our travelers to spend at their leisure.  Some visited one or other of the baths, some shopped, & others explored the city of foot & visited St. Stephen's Basilica.
